Haringhata is a new - born Municipality at Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal.Haringhata is encircled by five districts – (North) 24 PGS, Hooghly, Howrah, Burdwan and Murshidabad. Moreover the city started in the midst of agricultural land. Several nearby villages are well communicated with the city.
The geographical location of the Municipality is 22.97 degree N 88.54 degree E in the northern tip,22.92 degree N,88.54 degree E in the south,22.93 Degree N and 88.52 degree E in the west 22.96 degree N,88.54 Degree E in the eastern tip. The Area is bounded on the north by the Birohi II Gram panchayet, on the east Fatehpur Gram Panchayet, on the south by Moricha Gram Panchayet, and on the west by the Bhaluka Gram panchayet. The maximum length from east to west is around 6kms, while the maximum breadth from north to south is about 6 Kms,. Eastern railway- sealdah Division Main line also connects Haringhata, which takes approximately Two hour from the Sealdah railway station. The Municiplity can also be accessed through NH -34 . The distance between nearest airport and Haringhata is only 54 kms and it takes approximately Two Hour to travel.
Nadia district is mostly alluvial plains lying to the east of Hooghly River, locally known as Bhagirathi. The alluvial plains are cut across by such distributaries as Jalangi, Churni and Ichhamati. With these rivers getting silted up, floods are a recurring feature.

As per 2011 Census of India Haringhata Municipality has a total population of 45,953, of which 23,298(50.7%) are male and 22,655(49.3%) are female. Density of population is 1276 per square kilometer.
There are four census towns in Haringhata Municipality (2011 census figures in brackets) : Haringhata (3,989), Simhat (6,949), Subarnapur (5,759) and Digha (6,916).
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Haringhata Municipality was 41,817 (82.15% of the population over 6 years) out of which 21,745 (52%) were male and 20,072 (48%) were female.
